Circle Scarves & Skirts

♥hello everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday, and taking advantage of all of the sales! I did some lengthy (very lengthy!) shopping on Friday and Saturday and have some fabulous new buys!

The sweater is actually supposed to be more body-hugging, but I like the loose, casual fit for t-shirts, so I bought it a size bigger and decided to treat it as sort of an oversized sweater. I'm planning to buy more basics like this later on, too.

As for the scarf, it's a circle scarf - basiclly one big circle that you can wear many different ways, like a shawl, hood, etc. It's really warm, too.
And I have been after a circle skirt for a while - I think the bow pockets are such a cutesy accent.

And here are the purple scarf (which is actually my sister's) and furry Marc Jacobs jacket I mentioned in my last post. I love the scarf - it's in my favorite color and one of my favorite prints for the season. And the jacket is extremely warm!

Circle scarf: Madewell Sweater: Wallace Skirt: Aqua
Purple scarf: Rimo Jacket: Marc by Marc Jacobs

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some of my other buys:
-A blue silk Ralph Lauren square scarf
-Black boot-cut cords
-Some cozy socks for the winter
-A silver Sephora eyeshadow palette
-Sweater tights
I hope everyone everyone did some shopping too!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As for my question on my last post (what is your one fall/winter essential that you can't live without), my answer would have to be an oversize sweater or cardigan. They are so comfortable; I can't get over them! They come in such a variety of colors, too.

And the next question, if you haven't seen it already:
What do you think is the difference between fashion and style?

I'll be putting this question at the top of my blog from now on. My answer will be on my next post - thanks for all of your answers, everyone! I had a lot of fun reading them. :)

Answers I got:
1. Square scarf (Y)
2. Cashmere (Marta)
3. Peacoat (Join the Gossip)
4. Oversize cardigan (Jenna)
5. Boots (Fashion Chalet) (Songy)
6. Chunky scarf (Katie)
7. Trench coat (Nina)
8. Beret (Annie)

12. Leather jacket (Ashleigh)
13. Knit hat (The Clothes Horse)

12% scarves
12% boots
12% hats
18% other
42% coats/jackets

My favorite is the purple one. I think fashion is more about trends & design whereas style is more personal.

That's so cool how u featured all of us who left comments. very cool! As fro the fashion/style question: I think fashions come and go, but each individual has their own style that makes them unique =)

It's good to see you. I don't think I've ever seen you doing your outfit post.

Now your question. I wasn't sure where to put the answer so here it goes: style stays(timeless) but fashion (finite) come and goes.

Oh I really want a circle scarf.
I also prefer looser tops. Something more comfortable about them!

Fashion is determined by others and style is something that you can determine...

The scarves are lovely. And I'm flattered you want to use one of my pictures--go right ahead!
As for the differences between fashion and style...it's difficult to state. Style is less about runways and sometimes even clothes--it's the way people carry themselves and live their life.

oh & response to your question:

fashion, to me, is a form of art that follows culture. what we go through now, economically, internationally, culturally, what have you - it is all reflected in the clothing. thus, fashion is everchanging to fit the needs of people as time progresses.

style, on the other hand, is a more personal outlook of life or the expression of personality through clothing. it evolves in accordance to the individual's maturity; not with the rest of pop culture.

sorry for this uber long comment!

Some fabulous new buys indeed! And to answer your question, I've always thought of fashion as being something more in passing, always moving and changing, and more "trendy", where style is more concrete and personal, and something created by an individual and not the mass media! :)

Thanks for your comment and for insights, very sorry to hear about the girl your sister new though... such a shame that she or no one else spoke up about what happened. :(

style can't be purchased, that's the difference. either you have it or you don't.

I did a lot of shopping this past week, it was fabulous.

Love this look and pics!
In answer to your Q about fashion and style, I think style applies to people (either you have it or you don't) whereas fashion applies to garments and accessories (What is in "fashion"?)...

I think Fashion is the tools given to us in order to create our Style!

And I am loving the scarves, they are my favourite accessory :) I have far too many.

I love that circle scarf - especially the way you styled it!

really liking the purple scarf!
I think style is the way you put things together to make it your own... its your own personal "style" touch. and fashion is clothes, accessories, malls, trends, etc... fashion is what you need to create your own style.

Great outfit but why are you hiding your lovely face?

"I love that flower/moss covered wall, it's so pretty!
You look so adorable; I love the color of you dress.
Great detail shots, too."

Thank you. The color is great isn't it? My parents always told me not to wear yellow because I'm asian but I think that made me want to wear it more....
