Street Chic Lookbooks and Flashbacks

♥hello readers!

I hope everyone has had a good week - or if not, at least a good weekend. I was browsing through Shopbop's Style Guide the other day and found this stylish Street Chic Lookbook. Click on any of the images to enlarge.

Just thought I would share this with you because I love all the looks here, especially 3 & 5. Which one(s) are your favorite?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday night I went to a "Back to the 80s" party - it was incredibly fun and I had a really great time picking out my outfit.
The sweater is a bit more oversized than it looks in the pictures. And sorry about the wrinkly skirt - I took this picture after the party.
I also donned a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs 3-inch patent leather platform Mary Janes but didn't feel like taking a picture of them - perhaps I'll post about them later.
What would you guys wear to an 80s party? ;)
Sweater: Target Belt: D&G
Skirt: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Tights: Reference Bag: Vintage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for all the answers you guys gave to my Question of the Moment! There are so many ways one can express the difference between fashion and style, and I loved reading all of your opinions.

Here are a few of my favorites:

"Fashion, to me, is a form of art that follows culture. what we go through now, economically, internationally, culturally, what have you - it is all reflected in the clothing. Thus, fashion is everchanging to fit the needs of people as time progresses.

Style, on the other hand, is a more personal outlook of life or the expression of personality through clothing. It evolves in accordance to the individual's maturity; not with the rest of pop culture." *La Couturier

"I've always thought of fashion as being something more in passing, always moving and changing, and more "trendy", where style is more concrete and personal, and something created by an individual and not the mass media!" *Susanna-Cole

"Style can't be purchased, that's the difference. Either you have it or you don't." *Modelizer

Those are just a few...there were so many responses that I liked!

As for me, I agree with everyone - I think of fashion as something that fades in and out, something that is decided by other people, something you can purchase, whereas style is personal and incredibly unique - it is created and decided by an individual and much more concrete than fashion.

And the Question of the Moment:

What is your favorite Fall/Winter 08 trend, and why?

I love your back to the 80s outfit, especially the tights!
And thanks for sharing those great images, I love the 2nd outfit!

I like that '80s look you created. All the 'Street Chic' looks appealed to me in one way or another, probably because of the nice, narrow silhouettes.

I legit hate shopbops spastic attempts at styling and the photography makes me sad in my soul.

Yay I was quoted!

I had an 80's party once, all I had to do was wear my hair down because it's totally 80's no matter what I do [which is why it's never down]

I like your purse, it's so fun.

What great tights! I would love a pair like those. I am also loving 80s at the moment, especially crimped hair and all things outrageous.

I did also like the editorial you posted, I think the last is my favourite just because I am a fan of neutral colours and I just think its really simple but sophisticated!

Take care :) x

The back to 80's outfit is really cute! I have never had a party with that theme but I guess you don't need a party to dress has you like ;)

For the question, my favorite Fall/Winter 08 trend are probably the booties (don't know why) and the plaid, because it reminds some clothes I had when I was little.

great skirt. not sure what's happening there but here (summer) maxi dresses are hugely popular.

Love your stockings and bag.
I don't really like trends, because they are so fleeting. But I do like all the lace items I can buy now because it is "trendy." Honestly though, lace is a classic!

I love that simple tee with the harsh gold chain against it. and that bag.
favorite fall trend?

drop crotch pants and man trousers. cigarette jeans have been "in" for a while now, and its nice to see a little change. i get bored easily of the same thing and its fun to loosen the sillouhette out, you know? not as tight.

thank you :) your header is even better

I love the streetstyle picture number 4 , The outfit is great. I also really like your bag :) and my favourite trend? Hmm I'm not quite sure,there are many, but I think lace-up boots, because they look so vintage, lace, really chic and chanel golden tights, because they give a simple black dress a special touch.

Love the 80s outfit, I want to see the shoes! I usually just do generic clothes (a tight black dress, for example) and 80s accessories - big hoop earrings, side ponytails, jellies, blue eyeliner, etc.

My favorite trend is the cardigan! I live in LA but travel to see family on the East coast several times during the winter, so they're practical. I can wear it with a tank top or with a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath. They're versatile & can be worn with jeans or with skirts/dresses. Plus, they're cozy!

The yellow skirt is so sweet, and I adore the first street style pic, the rolled up jeans with the boots look great.

I like Style #5. Those polka dots tights are very cute. I agree about fashion just kind of fading in and out throughout time.

Aly-gator said...

<33333 3 % 5 too. here it's summer so i'm pretty much interpreting these looks in summerwear. but i must say it's ankle boots

Great outfit . I love this skirt

Great outfit, doll! Love the tights!
Shopbop has the most captivating lookbook. And I am surprised to find myself writing this, but I think my favorite trend is the pseudo-grunge lumberjack chic look, with a fab fitted plaid shirt and a fur gilet, with either skinnies or BF jeans and little booties...

my favorite trend for Fall/Winter 08 is lace.. Cause I really like lace, I think that white lace can be very romantic while black lace can be very mysterious and appealing
